Who is M Pire Magazine Anyway?

Hello everyone...

I apologize for not blogging for a while. A lot has been going on. I wanted to inform you guys that I have changed the title and theme of this blog to the building of M Pire Magazine, which is a new magazine that focuses on promoting artists of all spectrums. That includes music, art, film, literature, comedy, theatre, dance, etc.

I wanted to talk a little on how this magazine came about. As an upcoming artist myself who was trying to make it, I quickly discovered all the difficulties of trying to build a name for myself without the help of a record label. It takes time, dedication, and patience, and becoming a well-known artist is definitely not just a part-time job! However, the tools to build an independent artist career are very limited. But you all know this already.

SO.... I figured, why not change that?

Sure, we can revert to social networks like MySpace and reverbnation to promote our music. The good news about that is, everyone can get on these sites. The bad news about that is...... well..... everyone can get on these sites. My problem with these social networks is that the few artists who are very serious about their work get lost in a sea of millions of other artists who are doing music for fun.... which isn't a bad thing.... but there needs to be a place strictly for artists who want to make their music their lifestyle.

I figured artist promotion in the form of a magazine would work because, number one, mags present ad space. And the magazines that exist now cover mostly mainstream artists, and no beginning artist has $10,000-100,000 to buy a 1/32 page black-and-white ad at the bottom corner of one issue (I know I didn't). The core importance of M Pire Magazine is that it's completely affordable for artists who wish to invest in their music. The other core importance of M Pire is that whoever we advertise makes their fans our fans, and our fans become new fans for our incoming featured artists, and their fans also become our fans, who become fans of past and more upcoming features in our mag, and so on. So everyone's name builds up this way. Pretty cool, right?

Here are some other important factors about M Pire Magazine that will deem very useful for our artists and readers:

  1. We also offer ad space for music-based businesses such as production companies, management, record labels, studios, publishers, etc. This brings business to them as well as services that artists may need to build their career.
  2. We offer promotion for events in 10 major US cities around the country, including artist showcases, open mics, album release parties, etc. Artists who live in those areas can check out those events as an opportunity to promote their music.
  3. There are various sections in our magazine that appeal to artist and non-artist readers. For our artists, there's one important section called "M Pire Drops Gems", where we feature articles that touch on important topics and know-hows in the music and entertainment industry. Our february issue (below) has an article by studio engineer Montez Roberts on how to make it in the music business. He's a high-profile engineer who has worked with Jill Scott, Marsha Ambrosius, The Legendary Roots, just to name a few. For our non-artists, we have sections that can apply to your everyday lifestyle, such as "M Pire on Love", "M Pire on Money", and "M Pire on Health". This past issue, we did an "Editor's Choice" on natural hair care products.
  4. We offer ad space and services to other forms of art as stated above, such as those in the film business, authors and writers, producers, comedians, DJ's, etc etc.
I think this about sums up who we are and what we're about. With all this said, I would encourage you all to treat yourself to a free (again.....FREE) eCopy of our February issue below, which you can read from your computer, mobile device, etc. The print copy is about $5 if you want to buy one but that's optional. Also, we are releasing the May 15th issue soon, so feel free to join our mailing list at www.m-piremagazine.com to stay updated on that as well as upcoming events!
